FAQs

1: Why work with breath, body, energy? What about the mind?

Working with the mind (e.g. traditional talk therapy) can be incredibly useful and a powerful complement to more body/energy focused modalities. Innerworks is focused on the large part of our inner world that lies outside of our conscious awareness and for that I have found working with the body/energy to be the most effective - not only in terms of releasing tension, limiting beliefs, suppressed emotions, trauma etc., but also in terms of building the circuitry to embody higher frequencies. As Dr. Sue Morter (The Energy Codes) explains: “If it isn’t flowing in your life, it’s because it isn’t flowing in your body”.

2: What happens in a session?

Each session lasts 50 mins and consists of 3 parts:
I) Opening: Using the breath and gentle adjustments (tapping) with a device that uses a healing frequency to encourage greater opening and energy flow through the body.
II) Diving deeper: Incorporating breath and Spinal Energetics to connect more deeply with the spine, nervous system and energy field to help release and unwind blockages across all aspects of our being (physical, emotional, mental and spiritual).
III) Integration: Deep relaxation and meditation to integrate the experience.

What you experience through the session is unique to you and if you do multiple sessions you can expect different experiences. It’s not uncommon to feel an increase in energy moving through the body. You may also experience a physical release/unwinding (e.g. twitches, shaking, movement of the spine), a release of suppressed emotions (e.g. grief, anger, joy) or a new perspective on something. Some people have little to no movement and instead experience a deeply meditative process. We’re all unique - there’s no right or wrong with this work.

3: Will I move during the session?

Everyone’s experience is unique and no one session is the same. You may move a lot or have little to no movement - and again, your experience may change over time. The end goal is not to have movement during the session, but rather to experience greater flow in life outside the treatment room.

4: I have no prior experience with breathwork, yoga, meditation etc. - will this work for me?

Prior experience with related modalities is beneficial, but not a requirement. The session is structured to invite greater opening and flow of energy through the body before the energy work starts (see FAQ 2).

5: How do I prepare for a session?

Set an intention for yourself: how do you want to feel once you’ve integrated the session? Drink plenty of water on the day of your session. It’s best to leave at least 2-3 hours without eating before session start. As you’ll be fully clothed throughout, please wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothes that you can move in.

6: What happens after a session?

I will share instructions following your session. You should allow at least 72 hours for integration following a session. It’s not uncommon to feel tired, wired, emotional etc. after a session as your body is releasing the old and making way for the new. Whatever happens, the most important part is to be gentle with yourself: drink plenty of water, eat nourishing food and allow yourself to rest and be with your emotions/sensations without judgment.

7: How many sessions do I need?

1 session is enough to have an experience with this type of work. For deeper changes, I recommend committing to at least 3 sessions.

8: What are your qualifications?

I’m a qualified Breathwork, KST, Reiki and Spinal Energetics practitioner - and I am always exploring and expanding my knowledge. As a professional, I’m deeply committed to continuing my own “inner work” as this impacts not only how I show up in life, but also how far we can go in your sessions.
